Maintenance Technician

Job Duties:

  • Analyzes equipment failures, determines cause(s) and makes necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical maintenance of the facility as needed and maintains and repairs all plant machinery and equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities as indicated by the preventative maintenance system.
  • Assists subcontractors in the maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and utilizing precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating required equipment, parts and supplies and placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt when required equipment arrives.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures, using test equipment and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables utilizing hand tools. Diagnoses, repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machines, such as relays, switches and motors and positions sensing devices, utilizing hand tools.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams and blueprints utilizing hand tools and test equipment. May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and relay information accurately and in a timely manner.

Job Qualifications and Education

  • Electronics certification required.
  • Previous work-related skill, knowledge and experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Skilled in Microsoft packages including Work, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Able to walk up stairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
