Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure programs, systems, and processes result in a timely supply of qualified and diverse candidates and that information is sent to hiring supervisors in a timely manner. Ensure that applicant background checks are conducted thoroughly and timely to effectively fill vacant positions.
  • Effectively structure compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent. Work with carriers and/or broker to identify areas that will help control the cost of said programs for the company and the employee.
  • Oversee the development, composition, and implementation of policies and procedures ensuring consistent application. Guide supervisors in successfully addressing and bringing to conclusion employee grievances and recommend solutions. Provide consultation and support to management staff in regards to coaching, mentoring and developing subordinates. Assist supervisors with the development of individualized training plans to enhance or improve employee performance and staff retention.
  • Direct and ensure orientation needs are met for all divisions. Direct and ensure ongoing supervisor trainings are developed and conducted in conjunction with developing ongoing needs analysis to provide targeted trainings to supervisors to support agency goals and outcomes. Develop and update HR training and orientation curriculum as needed. Collaborate with management staff to ensure successful transfer of learning is achieved, reinforced and maintained.
  • Ensure the business complies with State and Federal regulations and employee file documentation is thorough and complete. Ensure all government compliance, and regulatory compliance, are met and policies and practices are updated and communicated to appropriate parties.
  • Compute and recommend starting pay and pay adjustments for employees ensuring internal equity. Oversee and ensure formal job analysis procedures are used in keeping job descriptions up to date. Conduct market salary surveys on identified key positions annually.
  • Direct aggressive and successful worker safety and worker’s compensation procedures to ensure quick and appropriate return-to-work times. Conduct trainings targeted to high risk areas to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Supervises the staff of the Human Resources Department.

Job Qualifications and Education

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years experience in Human Resources Required.
  • SHRM Certification preferred, PHR or SPHR.
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or Business preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
